CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur proudly launched Phase II of the Phenome India-CSIR Health Cohort Knowledgebase (PI-CHeCK), a pioneering initiative aimed at advancing precision medicine and personalized healthcare for the Indian population.
The event marked the beginning of a multi-day health check-up camp from August 23 to 28, 2025, involving over 250 participants from CSIR-NML employees, pensioner along with their spouses.
The inaugural function was held at the CSIR-NML, Agrico residential campus, and was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, Jamshedpur.
Dr. Ghosh Chowdhury emphasized the transformative potential of PI-CHeCK in addressing the growing burden of cardio-metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and fatty liver disease.
“This initiative is a critical step toward developing India-specific risk prediction models and enabling customized healthcare interventions,” he stated during the inaugural address.
CSIR-NML, PI-CHeCK project co-coordinator, Dr. Ansu J Kailath, Sr. Principal Scientist has outlined future trajectory of CSIR-NML’s endeavors for the next season of the PI-CheCK program. Other team members, namely Dr. Prinka Singh, Dr. Navneet Singh Randhawa, Mr. Sudhakara rao k, Mr. Roshan Kumar, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Gour, Dr. Nikhil Kumar, and Dr. Krishna Kumar of the project team dedicatedly contributed to this project of national importance.
The inaugural function concluded with a renewed commitment from CSIR-NML leadership to continue driving impactful research that bridges science and society.
