While reviewing the works of the state Department of Commercial Tax in Ranchi on Wednesday,Jharkhand Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma ordered its officers to inquire into the records of false Input Tax Credits.

As it is,as a registrant,the Department can claim an ITC to recover the GST/HST paid or payable on the purchases and operating expenses related to its commercial activities.Since many companies tended to collect the GST/HST from the customers,but not showed it to the Department.

Suspecting this fraud,the CS ordered the concerned officers to inquire into it.Making use of the video conference,she also directed the Department’s Joint Commissioners/Regional In-charges to issue notice in the registered cases within seven days.

“Get the Road Permit and Return Data examined at Circle level where atleast ten big dealers must be examined”,said the CS.
