Two days after the 2nd National Moot Court Competition on Consumer Protection Laws, 2026, which concluded on March 1, students continue to recall the speeches of honourable speakers.
They were two judicial stars who graced a grand valedictory ceremony function at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi. They were Mr. Justice Sujit Narayan and Mr. Justice Ananda Sen of the Jharkhand High Court.
The three-day national competition was organized by the Chair on Consumer Research and Policy, NUSRL, Ranchi, with the support of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India.
A total of 43 teams from National Law Universities, Central Universities, and reputed private law institutions across the country registered for the competition. After a rigorous memorial evaluation process, 18 teams were shortlisted for the oral rounds. The total prize for the competition was 1,00,000.
Hidayatullah National Law University secured the Winner’s Trophy, while National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, emerged as the Runners-up.

Special Awards:
• Best Speaker (Female): Ms. Sanchita Tripathi, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies - TC, GGSIPU
• Best Speaker (Male): Mr. Ridham Gupta, Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University
Addressing the gathering, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad reminisced about his student days and emphasized that despite rapid technological advancements, the importance of books remains irreplaceable.
He highlighted that a thorough reading of statutory provisions and landmark judgments is essential for developing a deep understanding of law.
Justice Ananda Sen, described the experience as enriching and expressed confidence in the promising future of the next generation of legal professionals. He also underscored the responsible and balanced use of technology in legal research.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers, stating that such competitions strengthen legal education and foster professional excellence among students.

Special appreciation was extended to Prof. (Dr.) Uday Shankar for his guidance in the successful conduct of the event. The organizing committee thanked all dignitaries, judges, faculty members, volunteers, and participants for their valuable contributions.
The competition was formally inaugurated by Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, Minister for Rural Development, Rural Works & Panchayati Raj, Government of Jharkhand.
The 2nd National Moot Court Competition on Consumer Protection Laws, 2026 once again reaffirmed the vital role of moot court competitions in promoting excellence in legal education and shaping competent future advocates.
