Jharkhand Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma on Wednesday observed that efforts must be made to popularise the tribal cuisine in the world.

By holding Jharkhand Food Festival in New Delhi,tribal cuisine was appreciated by the participants who tasted several food dishes popular among the tribals in Jharkhand,said the CS.

These dishes comprised both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.Among the vegetarian dishes were Dhuska and Bada.Some dish preparations may be mild with low oil and spice content,although pickles and festive dishes may have such charecteristics.

The CS’s observation cam out in a meeting with the tribal chefs inside the Project Bhawan premise in Ranchi on Wednesday.These chefs had participated in the Jharkhand Food Festival.

These chefs informed the CS that the state’s 50 dishes were made available to customers in the festival.Of these eight dishes were from Lohardaga,Mandar,Gumla,East Singhbhum and Khunti.

“A wide majority of people appreciated these food items”,said a chef.
