

A three-day Continuous Legal Education (CLE) Program was successfully held at National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi from April 10 to April 12, 2026.
The program brought together young Advocates with less than 5 years of practice from different districts of Jharkhand for learning and skill development.
The program was part of Phase 2 of Batch 1 of CLE Program which aimed to improve the practical knowledge of young legal professionals through hands-on-learning methods.
Participants were trained through case-based discussions, drafting exercises, and interactive problem-solving sessions that reflect real court situations. They also worked on legal drafting of applications and arguments, helping them understand how to present cases effectively before court.
Several distinguished speakers delivered sessions during the program. Dr. Julian Seal Pasari, Assistant Professor of Law, spoke on practical criminal procedure. Dr. Shreemanshu Kumar Dash, Assistant Professor of Law and Undertrial Prisoners Project Head, addressed participants on justice delivery.
Dr.Kaushik Bagchi, Assistant Professor of Law and Continuous Legal Education Project Head discussed about Essentials of Plaint as per CPC. Dr. Avinash, Assistant Professor of Law, also shared important legal insights.
A key session was delivered by Advocate Richa Sanchita, Senior Practitioner before the Jharkhand High Court with over 23 years of experience and Standing Counsel for the Election Commission of India.
She spoke on the important topic of Advocate–Client Relationship, highlighting its role in building trust and ensuring effective legal practice.
Adding a practitioner’s perspective, Adv. Shailesh Poddar, Practising Advocate before the Jharkhand High Court and Trial Courts and associated with Law and Equity Foundation, spoke on the role of advocates in the legal aid ecosystem and the importance of access to justice.
The sessions covered key topics like practical criminal procedure, temporary injunctions, speedy trial and justice delivery, advocate–client relationship, and legal aid. All sessions were interactive, and participants actively engaged in discussions.
A special lecture was delivered by Mr. Prashant pallav, Senior practicing advocate at the Jharkhand High court and Additional Solicitor General of India, on the topic – Right to fair compensation under the land Acquisition Act, 2013. He explained important aspects of land acquisition law, focusing on fairness, rights of affected persons, and the balance between development and justice.
From the judicial side, Mr. Ranjeet Kumar Choudhary, Retd. District Judge, delivered a session on temporary injunction under Order XXXIX of the Civil Procedure Code, explaining its practical application in courts. A key highlight of the program was its focus on access to justice and the responsibility of young lawyers towards society, especially for those who cannot afford legal help.
The program also included a special training session by Mr. Arun Pandey, who guided participants on how to effectively use SCC Online for legal research. The session focused on case law search, citation methods, and efficient use of digital legal database.
The program ended on April 12 with appreciation for all participants and speakers. The organizers at National University of Study and Research in Law said they will continue to organize such programs in the future.
Participants appreciated the program and said it helped them learn practical aspects of law and connect with professionals from across Jharkhand.
