

A significant step towards strengthening youth development and legal-academic collaboration was taken today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Jharkhand State Youth Commission (JSYC) and the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi.
The MoU was signed on behalf of JSYC by Shri Ved Ratna Mohan, Joint Secretary-cum-Member Secretary, and on behalf of NUSRL by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Vice-Chancellor. The ceremony was attended by members of the academic community, students, and distinguished guests.
Key Objectives of the MoU
The agreement aims to establish long-term institutional cooperation in the following areas:
• Promotion of youth-centric policy research and legal awareness
• Organization of training programmes, workshops, and skill development initiatives
• Creation of platforms for youth leadership, innovation, and civic engagement
• Exchange of knowledge, expertise, and institutional resources
Areas of Collaboration
The partnership will focus on:
• Youth policy research and advocacy
• Training and capacity-building programmes
• National and state-level seminars, conclaves, moot courts, and competitions
• Joint research publications and policy papers
• Internship and fellowship opportunities for students
• Collaboration in emerging domains such as Artificial Intelligence, digital governance, and startup ecosystems
The MoU will remain valid for a period of three years, with scope for renewal upon mutual consent.
Dr. Vagish Upadhyay, organiser of this event draws the attention of students over the relationship of ethics and success by saying that life without ethics is useless.
Special Guest Lecture
Alongside the MoU signing, a special guest lecture titled “Ethics vs Success: What Kind of Lawyer Will You Be?” was organized by NUSRL.
The session was delivered by Kumar Gaurav, Hon’ble Chairman of JSYC. In his address, he emphasized the importance of ethics in the legal profession, highlighting that true success lies in maintaining integrity.
He stated that “the balance between ethics and success defines a true legal professional.” He encouraged students to uphold honesty, social responsibility, and sensitivity in their careers. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students actively engaged with insightful questions.
