The supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) across the country continues to remain stable, with both the Central and State Governments taking proactive measures to ensure uninterrupted availability for domestic and commercial consumers.
In this context, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, has intensified enforcement activities against the illegal hoarding and unauthorized storage of LPG cylinders. Acting on allegations of malpractice, the Department has conducted raids at 2,503 locations across the State.
During these enforcement drives, a total of 4,992 illegally stored LPG cylinders have been seized. As part of the crackdown, 31 cases have been registered, while 384 cases have been instituted under the Essential Commodities Act. Additionally, five individuals have been arrested for their involvement in the illegal storage and sale of LPG cylinders.
The Government has reiterated that India’s LPG supply chain remains robust and unaffected, despite recent geopolitical developments impacting the global fuel market. Ensuring priority access for domestic consumers continues to be a key focus area.
Consumers are encouraged to adopt digital platforms such as SMS and IVRS for booking LPG refills, facilitating efficient and hassle-free service delivery.
The public is advised not to panic or engage in unnecessary booking of cylinders. Citizens are urged to refrain from believing in rumors and to rely solely on official sources for authentic information.
