The death of one 35- year old man who was trampled by a group of wild elephants has left behind a trail of grief that goes far beyond the physical devastation.
While the grieving family is trying to make sense of the sudden void, eyewitnesses describe scenes they cannot unsee — body torn apart, limbs flung across the road. The psychological impact on the survivors, families and even first responders is huge, but remains far less discussed.
At ground zero, a herd of wild elephants continue to move around in Koderma where they trampled him to death on Sunday.
The incident took place in Kataiya village under the Satgawan police station jurisdiction.
"The incident happened while the victim, identified as Rohit Yadav, was trying to drive the herd away from his field. He slipped and fell, and was trampled to death," a police officer said.
Though post mortem of the body was created, its report was not made public till now. The family of the victim is in pain expecting the forest department officials drive the wild animals away and provide them compensation.
