

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, celebrated its 17th Foundation Day today, marking nearly two decades of excellence in legal education.
The event on Sunday ( April 26,2026)was graced by Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah (Judge, Supreme Court of India) as the Chief Guest, alongside Guest(s) of Honour; Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak (Chief Justice, Jharkhand High Court cum Chancellor,NUSRL), Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad (Judge, Jharkhand High Court), and Mr. Rajiv Ranjan (Advocate General, Jharkhand).
Mr. Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah was received with a Guard of Honour. He was warmly welcomed in tradition by the University staff and students. In his keynote address, he focused on the evolving nature of the legal profession.
He advised students, "Do not compete with others; your only competition is the person you were yesterday." He engaged in a profound Q&A session, guiding students on maintaining objectivity and ethics in the face of professional challenges.

Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak (Chief Justice, Jharkhand High Court Cum Chancellor) remarked, "I feel immense pride in being part of this 17-year journey. Students must realize that law is not merely a career or a profession; it is a profound social responsibility."
He paid tribute to the former Vice-Chancellors and faculty members for their foundational role in the university’s growth. He cautioned students against seeking shortcuts to success, stating that the true path to excellence lies in resisting easy lures and maintaining professional integrity.
Launch of "Cyber Safe & Resilient Jharkhand": In a significant step towards digital security, the University’s Center of Excellence for Cyber Law and AI (CAGE), in collaboration with the Cyber Peace Foundation, launched the "Cyber Safe and Resilient Jharkhand" initiative. A dedicated poster was released to mark the start of a free online certificate program aimed at creating "Cyber First Responders" across the state to tackle digital threats.
Academic Excellence & Scholarships: Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashok R. Patil highlighted the university's research milestones and social contributions through the Centre for Legal Aid Programme.
To promote merit, the university awarded special scholarships to 18 high-performing BBA.LL. B (H) and LL.M students. Additionally, over 35 achievers from various national and international competitions held over the past year were felicitated.
Conclusion of 'Avirbhaav 6.0' & Sports Meet: The university’s annual flagship fest, Avirbhaav 6.0, and the K.N. Prasad Memorial Sports Tournament concluded today. The fest saw participation from across India in events like MUN, Nukkad Natak, and Quiz.
* Open Mic & Poetry: Amit Kumar and Priya Singh (AIL Mohali) bagged top honors.
* Model United Nations (MUN): Students from JVM Shyamli and DPS Ranchi dominated the diplomatic simulations
* winning Best Delegate awards across committees like AIPPM, Lok Sabha, and UNSC.
* In the final match of cricket between NUSRL and DPSMU, NUSRL won the match.
