*Jamshedpur in grip of shock and fear following murder of a railway staff near Tatanagar junction at Bhagmera.

Anger and shock has gripped the Baghbera area after a railway employee was shot dead last night by unidentified assailants near the Railway Lobby Gate.

The victim, whose identity is being verified, was reportedly targeted in a targeted attack. The crime has raised concerns regarding the safety of railway personnel in the Tatanagar station vicinity. The victim is said to be the resident of Adityapur.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred near the busy Railway Lobby Gate in Baghbera . A couple of witnesses, according to the police, had heard the sound of gunfire, and the victim was found slumped on the ground in a pool of blood. Despite immediate efforts to seek help, the worker succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Police claimed that after receiving information about the incident, the Baghbera police rushed to the scene. City SP Lalit Meena also reached the spot.

During the preliminary investigation, bullet casing was recovered from the crime site, which has been seized for forensic examination.

The police have cordoned off the area and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby installations to track the movement of the suspects.

The motive behind the murder remains unclear. Investigators are looking into various angles, including personal enmity or potential disputes related to railway contracts.

“We have recovered a shell from the spot and are investigating the matter from all possible angles. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and we are questioning potential witnesses to identify the culprits,” a senior police official stated.

The murder has sparked outrage among railway workers and local residents. This incident follows a string of violent crimes in the Baghbera and Tatanagar regions, leading to demands for increased police patrolling and better lighting near railway gates and colonies.

Railway unions have expressed deep grief over the loss and have urged the administration to ensure the swift arrest of the perpetrators. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
