The Centre for Child Rights at National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi, capital city of Jharkhand successfully organised a State Level Consultation on “Reflecting on 10 Years of the Juvenile Justice System” on 15 May 2026. 

As it is, the consultation served as an important platform for academicians, legal experts, practitioners, and child rights stakeholders to deliberate upon the implementation, challenges, and future of the Juvenile Justice framework in India.

The programme was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashok R. Patil and Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. K. Syamala. 

The consultation witnessed the participation of distinguished experts including Ms. Priti Srivastava, Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF Jharkhand, Mr. Bikas Kumar Srivastava, Mr. Ashit Kumar Modi, Ms. Rimjhim Vaishnavi, Dr. Rajshree Verma, Dr. Avinash Kumar, Dr. Utkarsh Verma, Mr. Shubham Srivastava, Ms. Soni Bhola, Dr. Julian Seal Pasari, and Dr. Rabindra Kumar Pathak.

The discussions during the consultation focused on key aspects of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, including child protection mechanisms, rehabilitation and reintegration of children, adoption regulations, institutional care, and the way forward for strengthening child rights protection in Jharkhand and across the country.

The speakers highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts among government institutions, legal professionals, civil society organisation, and academic institutions to ensure effective implementation of child protection laws and policies. 

The consultation also emphasized the need for continuous reforms and sensitization to address emerging challenges in the Juvenile Justice system. The event concluded with a collective commitment towards strengthening the child rights ecosystem and promoting a more inclusive and child-centric justice framework in India.
