This is a new high, surpassing yesterday's peak demand (solar hours) of 257.37 GW, which was also successfully met.

The country has an installed capacity of over 538 GW at present (May 2026). India has added almost 314GW to its generation capacity since April 2014, thus transforming the country from power deficit to power surplus in just 12 years.
