Tension gripped Ranchi after unidentified assailants allegedly hurled petrol bombs at an RSS office shortly after midnight in Ranchi, capital city of Jharkhand.
The incident, captured on CCTVs, took place post midnight on Tuesday- Wednesday night. This is for the first time, the RSS office was attacked in Jharkhand.
Two petrol bombs were hurled, one after another by two yet to be identified youths. “ CCTV revealed that one of the two threw the petrol bomb. Then, they returns. Again they arrive and throw yet another petrol bomb”, said Sanjay Seth, Union Minister of State For Defence and BJP’s Ranchi MP.
There was no casualty. Neither any major damage of the RSS office was reported.
Incidentally, this crime was committed prior to the RS polls slated to be held for two seats and three candidates:
*Baidyanath Ram: Fielding by the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
*Pranav Jha: Fielding by the Congress party.
*Parimal Nathwani: Independent candidate heavily backed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA
BJP leaders, including Union Minister Sanjay Seth and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, have termed the incident a serious security breach and alleged it could be part of a larger conspiracy.
On the basis of CCTV footage, Marandi claimed two youths carried out the attack and demanded arrest of the yet to be identified persons and stronger security measures, including a permanent police picket near the RSS office.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining possible motives behind the attack.No arrest was made till 12.30 pm on Wednesday.
