*Vanarasi Biscuits Reaching Oman for the First Time, Marking New Export Milestone

No joke, this. The first-ever shipment of biscuits from eastern Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi, is exported to Oman.

Tirupati Balaji Industries Pvt. Ltd., located in the Karkhiyanv Industrial Area, Varanasi, UP, exported 40 metric tons of biscuits. With this shipment, people in Oman now have a chance to enjoy Banarasi biscuits with their tea.

The biscuits are first transported by road to the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Kanpur. Officials complete customs formalities there. The shipment will then move to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Mumbai. From Mumbai, it will travel by sea to Oman.

The export marks an important step in connecting products from Varanasi to global markets. It also reflects the growing trade relationship between India and Oman. Officials said this is the first shipment sent after the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries.

APEDA Calls It a Major Achievement

Abhishek Dev, Chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), described the export as a notable achievement. He said that sending products from a landlocked region like Varanasi to Oman shows the growing strength of local exporters. He added that this success will encourage other businesses in the region to explore international markets.
