The students protest against alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC CGL recruitment tests, has taken a turn with protesters demanding resignation of the Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

A group of agitating students said the CM Hemant Soren appears unfit for office and highly insensitive to Students’ demand. “ We seek his resignation amid protest. Our plan to gherao state assembly stands”,reports hindustantimes.com.

This demand was raised today ( August 6,2026) after the CM Soren met with governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and briefed him about the ongoing row regarding the JPSC- JSSC -CG recruitment process.

“The governor termed the alleged irregularities a matter of grave concern. He stated that the commissions should function in a manner that leaves no room for doubt regarding their transparency and credibility,” said a statement issued by the Lok Bhavan.

As reports poured in, Soren has assured the governor that the state government is committed to ensuring justice for the protesting students and will look into the case.

As the protest and hunger strike continue, while the Soren government has set up a committee of Ministers to deal with the agitators, students have called for the resignation of Hemant Soren.

They have reportedly alleged that the state government has been “ unresponsive.”
