The standoff between the Jharkhand government and protesting JPSC-JSSC aspirants has hardened after talks failed to produce an agreement, with student leaders declaring that they would not compromise until their demand for a CBI probe is met.

The state government has agreed to cancel three JPSC Backlog exams of 2023,2025 and the 14th JPSC PT exam. The state government has also agreed to get all exams conducted by TDPL (TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd) inquired by the CID. In addition, the state government has agreed to get criminal and financial transaction issues inquired by the CID and Enforcement Directorate.

At the same time, the state government has sought to take the help of IIT, IIM, Ranchi and XISS experts to inquire into the functioning of the JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Service Commission. Also, the state government wants a team headed by a retired judge to inquire into the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination and set up a fast-track court to deal with the case.

In response, students who are currently facing intense protests and deadlocks over alleged paper leaks have appreciated these government offers. But they want these exams conducted by the JPSC to be cancelled, order a CBI probe, and give them a promise in written format.

Now, the protesters have called for a massive march towards the Jharkhand Assembly today (on August 10) with thousands of aspirants expected to participate.

The breakdown came despite multiple rounds of negotiations and a string of concessions from the government, including a decision to cancel the 14th JPSC examination, order investigations into alleged irregularities and introduce reforms in the recruitment system.
