Amid students protest and the ongoing Jharkhand Assembly gherao on Monday( August 10,2026), 

the Jharkhand CID has arrested former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman L. Khiangte in connection with alleged irregularities and corruption surrounding the 14th Civil Services Examination. 

His arrest follows intense protests by job aspirants in Ranchi and the subsequent resignation of all remaining JPSC members.

Khiangte is former JPSC Chairman and former State Chief Secretary,is among 20 individuals taken into custody so far.
