It was another Vidhan Sabha Ghero in Ranchi. On Monday, hundreds of students marched and broke three layers of barricades to reach the newly built Assembly premises, only to get water cannons, baton attack by the police, and injury to over five dozen students.

On Tuesday, while the BJP workers enforced the statewide bandh in protest against the police action, its students’ wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a protest march from the Old Vidhan Sabha to the New Vidhan Sabha in Ranchi.

This double-edged agitation by the BJP and ABVP continued amid ongoing student protests in Jharkhand.

The BJP called a bandh and the ABVP march came at a time when independent student groups and job aspirants have been raising demands over the alleged Naukari Chori ( Job Theft) through acts of irregularities in examinations and the recruitment process in the State.

Several ABVP workers were detained during their march to the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi to protest against police action on students agitating over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in the state, perpetrating job theft.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out between ABVP workers and police as protesters refused to allow the bus carrying the detained workers to move.
 

BJP MLAs created a ruckus in the Jharkhand assembly over baton charge on students protesting against alleged irregularities in recruitment exams in the State, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House twice.

The opposition MLAs trooped into the well of the House and raised slogans against the JMM-led government for police action on the protesting job aspirants.

Despite repeated requests by Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato, the BJP legislators were in no mood to go back to their seats.

Mr. Mahato adjourned the proceedings twice - first till noon and the second till 2 pm.
