After paddy sowing across the state, rice-eating tribal farmers want paddy plants to grow and yield an abundant harvest. This is possible only when the rain continues to nourish paddy plants till the crop matures and harvesting begins in October - November.

By the end of August, the monsoon continues to affect Jharkhand. Now, since a low-pressure area was formed over the Bay of Bengal, according to the Indian Meteorological Department ( IMD), Jharkhand state is likely to witness continued rainfall over the next four days.

According to IMD Ranchi, a low-pressure area lies over and around West Bengal, northern Odisha and the northwestern Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning are likely across paddy-rich areas of Jharkhand.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert till August 27th, forecasting heavy rainfall in ten districts – Ranchi, Lohardaga, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Latehar, Chatra and Giridih.

Along with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning, gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are also likely in these districts.

The department has advised people to remain alert in view of the weather conditions. During the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in almost all parts of the state, with Kumaradungi in West Singhbhum receiving the highest rainfall of 97 millimetres.

According to the IMD, Ranchi and adjoining areas are likely to record maximum temperatures between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures between 22 and 23 degrees Celsius over the next four days.
