Hundreds of people have gathered to participate in the Maha Jutan rally opposing the proposed delimitation exercise at Morahabadi Maidan in Ranchi on Sunday ( August 30, 2026).

The organisers under the banner of Adivasi Unity Mahajutan rally claim that “ lakhs” of people belonging to the Adivasi community from different districts have arrived from different districts to participate in the rally. 

In view of the large crowd, the state administration and police have been deployed in strength to maintain law and order.

The proposed delimitation exercise, which is yet to be passed by Parliament, appears to be part of the move to showcase opposition to it.

The organisers are demanding that the delimitation exercise be ‘ frozen’ or deferred until 2028. The move is backed by the ruling Mahagathbandhan comprising the JMM, Congress and RJD.
