The Jharkhand High Court fined Chief Minister Hemant Soren ₹10,000 for a delay in filing a response regarding an SC/ST Act case involving Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials.

The High Court expressed strong dissatisfaction over the delay and the request for extra time to file a reply, imposing a ₹10,000 penalty on Soren.

The legal dispute stems from an FIR filed by Hemant Soren at a Ranchi SC/ST police station against ED officers, accusing them of harassment and rights violations during a land scam investigation.

The ED officials approached the High Court to challenge and quash this SC/ST case.
The court directed that the response be submitted within the stipulated timeframe and scheduled the next hearing for November 2, 2026.
