The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, organised Sangachhadwam Mentorship Day 3.0, featuring an inter-group cooking competition that brought together faculty members and students to celebrate mentorship, teamwork and India’s rich culinary diversity.

A total of 33 teams participated in the event, with each team comprising one faculty mentor and a group of students.

The programme was designed to strengthen the bond between faculty members and students beyond the classroom, providing them with an opportunity to interact, collaborate and understand one another better through a shared creative activity.

As part of the competition, participating teams were given three hours to prepare their dishes. Students showcased their culinary skills by preparing a wide range of regional cuisines representing different parts of India, from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu, Gujarat to Nagaland, and several other regions. The diversity of dishes reflected India’s rich food traditions and cultural heritage.

The event was graced by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of NUSRL, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil; Ms. Nishi Shabana, DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor and the special guest, Mr. Harsh Gakhar, Chef at Little’s Bakes and Bistro. They encouraged the participating students and appreciated their enthusiasm, creativity, teamwork and efforts in presenting diverse culinary traditions.

The team led by Mr. Ashish Silsilwal, representing Tripura’s culinary traditions, secured the first prize. The second prize was awarded to the Varanasi team, led by faculty mentor Mr. Shreemanshu Kumar Dash, for preparing the region’s famous tomato chaat.

Sangachhadwam Mentorship Day 3.0 highlighted the importance of mentorship as a relationship built on mutual learning, trust and cooperation. By bringing faculty members and students together in an informal and engaging setting, the initiative offered a platform for meaningful interaction beyond academics.

The event also celebrated India’s cultural diversity through food, demonstrating how shared experiences can strengthen relationships, encourage creativity and foster a sense of community within the University.
