Hoardings put up by the Ranchi Municipal Corporation are exhorting people to say no to polythene.The campaign is being organised to implement the directives of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest to reduce the use of all types of plastic bags used by the public especially those dispensed by shopping malls and centres for carrying purchased goods. It also eyes the complete stoppage of circulation of non-biodegradable plastic products which damage both health and environment.
RMC Administrator Dipankar Panda said that such awareness programmes expect people,all over the Jharkhand’s state capital to say no to polythene bags.He added, “All channels of communication will be utilised to convey the importance of the message to each member of the society, which would go a long way in saving the lives of camels, turtles,fishes and other precious marine wealth like coral cliffs etc.”
