Ranchi is gearing up to celebrate Ramnavami on Friday with devotees busy buying swords.

This was mainly because devotees, who parade with the flags of the God ram and Hanuman, carry traditional weapons including sword.

Today, around the Main Road market areas, vendors were spotted selling Hanuman flags and bamboos all along the stretch from Kutchary to the Albert Ekka roundabout.

Ramnavmi devotees were seen buying traditional weapons such as sword and sticks at Upper Bazaar, Ratu Road and main road to use them in Friday Ramnavmi procession.

This year, like the previous years, the sell of the sword had enriched Anandan Singh, owner of a shop in Mahavir Chowk.”The sale is more than what we had expected”,said Singh, echoing the sentiments of a dozen shopkeepers in Ranchi.

The state government has already ordered the police to keep a watch on social media and deploy adequate number of security forces to maintain law and order on the Ramnavmi day.

Jharkhand Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma has directed the DCs and SPs of the districts to keep vigil in sensitive areas.
