Siachen Lance Naik Hanumanthappa, who had slipped into a deeper state of coma, died at the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi today in the morning.

He was the only survivor of the Siachen avalanche tragedy that struck on February 3. Hanumanthappa remained extremely critical with worsening multiple organ dysfunction.

His pneumonia had worsened and the blood clotting disorder showed no sign of reversal despite blood component support.
