Mahashivratri is being celebrated all over the state today.

Devotees have been thronging Shiv temples since early morning, offering oblations. In Ranchi, the Pahari Mandir situated atop what was formerly known as the Ranchi Hill is the chief centre of religious fervour. The official Puja will be held there at night, and masques depicting the Shiva of legends will be enacted on the streets. One of the most popular events will be the wedding procession of Shiv and Paravati.
