First of its kind district-level micro plans that strategized the CSR investments in social and health sector – within the context of Jharkhand State priorities and global SDGs have emerged – through a three-days hands-on skills-in-strategy development organized in Ranchi. 

Result?General Managers, Industrial Extension Officers (IEOs) and Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Managers in the District Industrial Centres (DICs) developed results-based and tailor-made local strategic-designs and micro plans during the CSR Impact Assessment workshop that ended in Ranchi on July 22.

This workshop was organized by the Jharkhand Corporate Social Responsibility Council (JCSRC), Department of Industries, Mines & Geology, Government of Jharkhand in partnership with UNICEF. These plans will help strategize community-development work in close partnerships with Districts’ based corporates.

Experts observed that there is a critical need for results-based and tailor-made local strategic-designs for a more focused CSR. The current skills-building CSR design workshop is a giant leap towards the same goal. This initiative is about the "Social Contract" and the Strategic-Design in the area of CSR partnerships, which is attuned to mobilizing resources in helping communities attain SDGs.

During the workshop, Mr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Secretary, Department of Industry, Mines & Geology, GoJ announced the “Industry Champions for SDGs: Awards” to recognizing the select companies that have inherently built-in child rights issues in their business.

Companies will be awarded in the following three categories:

(a) best corporate initiative in the areas of health, nutrition, water, sanitation, education, child protection, women’s empowerment, livelihoods and skill-building, infrastructure and climate action;

(b) two best innovation awards; and

(c) two awards for Media Houses (print & electronic) for their relentless and focused reporting on child rights issues.

The awards application form is available for download on the Department of Industries’ website www.jharkhandindustry.gov.in and should be submitted in hard and soft copy to the Office of the Director Industries, GoJ (csrjharkhand@gmail.com) by 31 August 2017.

Initial screening and short listing of the nominations will be facilitated by the JCSRC secretariat headed by Director - Industries, subsequently a jury comprising of representatives from the GoJ, academia, NGOs, civil society, media, industry bodies, etc  will review and select the winners based on the pre-decided scoring and weightage methodology. The awards will be presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand during the CSR Conclave scheduled October 2017.

Towards the end of the workshop, the participants shared their draft-final district plans and were presented certificates by the Director Industries, GoJ.,Ravi Kumar.
