A good news for environmentalists is this.The banks of polluted rivers and their tributaries in Jharkhand are planned to be given a green cover under the ambitious Namami Ganga project of the Narendra Modi government.

As per the plan,to begin with around 15 lakh plantations would be carries out in areas over 250 km stretch on either side of rivers in all five forest divisions of the state in the current fiscal year.

The rivers to be covered under the project include Harmu of Ranchi,Swarnarekha of Jamshedpur,Damodar of Dhanbad and Kevat of Hazaribagh.

The plantation is expected to begin during the monsoon season.Notably,no plan exists to clean the water of these rivers in Jharkhand.
