Nalanda is in the news after it was ranked on top in the implementation of ‘student credit card’ scheme under the ‘Aarthik hal, yuvayon ko bal’ programme,one of the Saat Nischays (seven resolves) launched by the state government on October 2, 2016.

The programme aims to help students pursue higher education after Class XII.This was explained by Nalanda DM Thiyagarajan SM, who recently bagged national awards for successful implementation of several schemes under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).

In fact,the project achieved after loans worth Rs 33 crore were disbursed to 1,107 SCC beneficiaries since October 2016."This programme can do much more to the banking system and students as well",says Thiyagarajan.
