Ahead of the annual Sharvani Mela beginning July 17, the state administration has chalked a full proof plan to provide top class services to devotees.

Lakhs of devotees offer puja to rest and the God Shiva inside Deoghar temple considered as one of 12th Jotir Linga in the country. Legend has it that the Shiva Linga was put up there by Ravana who was on his way to Lanka from the Himalaya.

As per tradition, every devotee(Kawaria) covers a long distance on foot to offer puja. To do so, he/she picks up water from the river Ganga at Sultanganj (Bihar) and pour it over the Shiva Linga at Deoghar-a distance of 111.7 km.

Along this route, security forces were deployed. Roads were widened and cleaned. Administrative camps set up for providing health medicare, water and tents to make the Kavarias rest. In fact, the state government ld by Chief Minister Raghubar Das who held the state Cabinet meeting at Deoghar on Thursday has been camping there for the past five days to direct officers perform 24x7 work during the Shravani Mela month.

Also, the State Cabinet has decided to send a proposal to the Centre, requesting the status of National Fair for Shravani Mela organized at Deoghar every year during monsoon.

More, the Cabinet approved a number of developmental projects for Deoghar. For instance, an amount of Rs. 85.54 crore was approved for rejuvenation of Sundar Jalashay Yojana and lining of the major canals in Godda near Deoghar.

As it is, since the Assembly elections are expected to be held before the end of the year 2019 and lakhs of devotees -Kavarias-engage themselves in this Shravani Mela, Das, who himself is a Shiva devotee, seems not leaving any stone unturned to earn electoral and religious dividends.
