A positive news from Dhanbad is that it has acquired Rs 170 crore worth National Power Grid in Govindpur.With this Grid becoming operational on Wednesday.

This Grid was inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das in Dhanbad. With this Grid becoming functional today, Jharkhand area comprising Dhanbad and Koylanchal that were connected with this Grid will get power from the national grid and thereby will no longer be dependent only on power supplied by Damodar Valley Corporation.  

A press release issued by the IPRD in Hindi states that the CM inaugurated many other schemes and projects too.They included these schemes:

• 511 करोड़ की लागत से बनने वाले 39 ग्रिड सब स्टेशन और 2127 किलोमीटर संचरण लाइन का शिलान्यास।
• धनबाद के नए विद्युत शक्ति उपकेंद्र एवं अन्य योजनाओं का लोकार्पण तथा शिलान्यास। लागत 34.81 करोड़।
• कांड्रा गोविंदपुर में 220/132/33 केवी नेशनल ग्रिड का उद्घाटन। 123 करोड़ की लागत। ग्रिड की क्षमता 400 एमवीए है।
• 33 केवीए ग्रिड सबस्टेशन राजमहल तथा 132 केवीए डबल सर्किट राजमहल-पाकुड़ संचरण लाइन और 132 केवी उबल सर्किट राजमहल-साहिबगंज संचरण लाइन का उद्घाटन।
• 220/132/33 केवीए ग्रिड सबस्टेशन चतरा एवं 220 केवीए चतरा-लातेहार संचरण लाइन का उद्घाटन।
• 220/33 केवीए गैस इंसुलेटेड ग्रिड सब स्टेशन रांची स्मार्ट सिटी एवं संबंधित संचरण लाइन का शिलान्यास। 
• डीवीसी कमांड एरिया में निर्माण कराए जानेवाले ग्रिड सब स्टेशन एवं संबंधित संचरण लाइन (लागत 974 करोड़) और विश्व बैंक संपोषित संचरण परियोजना (लागत 2311 करोड़) का शिलान्यास।
• जेएएसडब्ल्यूएवाई (अर्बन) योजना के तहत अंडरग्राउंड तथा जीआइएस विद्युत शक्ति उपकेंद्र के लिए धनबाद, जमशेदपुर, रांची एवं रामगढ़ में 1113.32 करोड़ की योजनाओं का शिलान्यास।
