For the first time, empty roads, absence of devotees walking, displaying swords, playing with lathis and yelling 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans and locked temples marked the festival of Ramnavmi in Ranchi and its adjoins towns and cities of Jharkhand.

Even Mahavir Mandir at Upper Bazar and the Tapovan Mandir remained closed on Thursday- the day of Ramnavmi.

None of the Hindus who participate in Puja rituals to celebrate the birth of their Lord Ram opposed the Lockdown being enforced by the government across India to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Alongside, different groups such as Agrawal Mahasabha, Shyam Mitra Mandal, Shyam Seva Trust were busy serving cooked food- rice, dal and sabji-free of cost to poor residents in different parts of Ranchi.

Notably, even though the food was served, the organizers had kept the beneficiaries at a distance of five-six feet to maintain a safe gap between each one of them.
