Both police and security forces were at their duty's end on Sunday trying to contain some people on the rampage in front of the graveyard, Ratu Road, Ranchi.
According to police, another COVID-19 plus patient(70 plus years old) who hailed from Hindpiri locality, the epicenter of COVID-19 in the capital city, died at RIMS hospital.
When his relatives and friends reached the graveyard in Bariyatu to prepare for the last rites, residents of the locality blocked the road and prevented them to dig the graveyard.
Faced with opposition, these relatives went to another graveyard located in Ratu road. After the digging started scores of residents gathered there and refused to allow the burial of the dead COVID-19 patient.
The police were struggling to maintain law and order. But till the time of writing this story(8.15 pm), the police were unable to deal with the protesters and enable relatives of the dead COVID-19 patient, the third Coronavirus death case in Jharkhand.
"We are in the state of shock and pain having to the front with this kind of inhuman protest", weeps a relative.
The deceased was a resident of Hindpiri where three COVID-19 plus patients were admitted at RIMS hospital. Two of them had died. The third one- a Malaysian woman- who continued to have got tested positive three times, said RIMS Director Dr. DK. Singh.
