Jharkhand has been a homeland of labourers for long. They travel for miles to contribute to the growth of industry and real estate across the country.

However, when they suffer and die they get no compensation. Even the state government of Jharkhand stays far away from the needs and requirements of the dead labourers’ family, reveals official data.

In the last four years, 284 labourers of unorganised sector had died in Jharkhand--a large percentage during their work or as a result of their work. How much they received?

They received just Rs 39.4 lakh as compensation: either 15 thousand or 25 thousand each, according to official data.
