The body lies on the ground with blood flowing all around. This was inside the Palamu Tiger Reserve area in Jharkhand's Latehar district where a 55-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant.

The incident took place on Monday when Manu Oraon Kujrum took his cattle for grazing in the forest. He was attacked by the elephant, a forest staff member told www.jharkhandstatenews.com today.

Though his body was sent for a postmortem on Tuesday, the report was not made public till now.

As per the state forest department's policy. A file was initiated to provide a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the deceased's wife, Palamau Forest Area Officer. Tarun Kumar said."We have already started the process and the compensation will be paid soon".
