India on Monday successfully carried out the test-firing of a new missile in the Agni series known as the Agni-P. The test was conducted off the Odisha coast, officials informed.

The new generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile Agni P was successfully flight-tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Balasore in Odisha.

It is a canisterised missile with a range capability between 1,009 and 2,000 kms.
