Dhanbad figures in another fresh incident of firing resulting in the murder of one person and injury to two others.

According to the police, three friends — Neeraj Tiwari, Ronak Gupta and Rahul Gupta - were sitting at a tea stall near Rajasthani Dharmashala along Katras- Raiganj road, about 40 km from Dhanbad,  on Thursday night.

“Bike-borne criminals came and opened indiscriminate firing on Tiwari. The firing also hit Ronak Gupta and Rahul Gupta”, police said.

The PTI report from Dhanbad quotes Baghmara Sub Divisional Police Officer Nisha Murmu and Katras police station officer-in-charge Rasbihari Lal, who had reached the spot immediately, jointly saying that the incident had occurred around 9 pm on Thursday night.

“Police rushed Neeraj Tiwari and Ronak Gupta to Dhanbad hospital while Rahul Gupta who had received a bullet in his hand was admitted at local Nichitpur hospital”, PTI report added.

Investigations revealed that Neeraj Tiwari was brought dead at Aserfi Hospital in Dhanbad. So this hospital  declared him “ brought dead.”

When contacted, Dhanbad SP, Sanjiv Kumar informed that “deceased Neeraj Tiwari and his friend Ronak Gupta had criminal antecedents.”

"Police are investigating the incident from different angles. CCTV footage is being scanned. Criminals would be arrested soon", PTI report quotes Dhanbad SP as said.

Two others injured  Ronak Gupta and Rohit Gupta are under treatment in different hospitals.

Neeraj Tiwari who was involved in criminal cases was reportedly a police informer though Dhanbad SP denied it.” Tiwari was on the hit list of a notorious criminal gang for getting members of the gang arrested in Katras in connection of extortion demand from coal traders and businessmen”, PTI report adds.
