Despite efforts by the Deoghar district administration, the cause of rope way accident resulting in the death of two persons and injury to dozens of others was not known.
The rope way accident took place at Trikut hills in Jharkhand's Deoghar district on Sunday.
Reports reaching Ranchi indicate that dozens of people were still stuck in the rope way carriages and a rescue operation with the help of two Indian Air Force helicopters was underway.
The incident appears to have been caused by a technical snag. However,the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.
NDTV report claimed that the ropeway manager and other employees had fled the spot after the incident.Two people who had jumped were seriously injured, a PTI report said.
NDTV. com informed that a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was sent to the spot for the rescue operation and Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was also assisting in the operation.
Mr Bhajantri is learnt to have stated that local villagers are also helping in the rescue operation.
