The controversy over the upcoming film- Adipurush- has taken a turn with Allahabad High Court issuing a notice to the Censor Board directing it to file its reply.

The Censure Board’s reply was sought by a division bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice B R Singh passed the order on the PIL moved by Kuldeep Tiwari. 

In his, PIL Tiwari has included the trailer of Om Raut directorial Ramayana - inspired film Adipurush. The trailer was released on October 2, 2022. After its release, many people and Twitter users objected portrayal of Ravana as a long-bearded spiked-haired villain.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra objected to Hanuman’s look in leather belt attire on religious grounds. In Hinduism  leather is considered ‘impure.’And since lord Hanuman is worshipped, leather belt attire was questioned by Mishra.

Now, in response to petitioner Kuldip Tiwari’s PIL, the Lucknow bench has fixed February 21 as the next date of hearing in the matter.
