A day after the Modi government appointed former Supreme Court judge Abdul Nazeer as the governor of Andhra Pradesh, Twitter was trailing.Reason?

After the Congress party criticised the Modi government’s decision to appoint ex-SC Judge Abdul Nazeer as the Governor of AP, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju used Twitter to counter-stating this.

“The Whole Eco-system is once again in full swing on the appointment of a Governor. They should better understand that they can no more treat India as their personal fiefdom. Now, India will be guided by the people of India as per the provisions of the Constitution of India,”

The Opposition including the Congress, which had said that such appointments were a “great diminution and a great threat to the independence of the judiciary”.Why?

Because Justice Nazeer had in 2019 was part of a five-judge bench that unanimously held that the entire disputed land of 2.77 acres in Ayodhya must be handed over for the construction of Ram Mandir. And the Sunni Central Waqf Board be allotted five acres of alternate land in Ayodhya.
