The issue of the so-called “new recruitment rules” has rocked the House and the proceedings of the House were washed out due to an uproar by Opposition members on Tuesday.

The situation was such that the opposition BJP and its ally AJSU MLAs protested both inside and outside the Assembly demanding clarification from the treasury bench on its another new recruitment policy.

What appears to be a cause of concern for the Hemant Soren government is that his own party JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom has joined the opposition BJP MLAs by seeking clarification from the Soren government, saying that a 1932 Khatiyan-based new recruitment policy was passed unanimously in the House last year. “ What happened to that”, asked Hembrom.

Now, Hembrom said, he came to know from the media that the government intends to implement a pre-2016 employment policy after the new policy was scrapped by the High Court.

“I want to know what is there in the pre-2016 policy which the government intends to implement”, Hembrom asked and expressed his view that CM Hemant Soren has suddenly taken a U-turn and started backing recruitment policy favouring “outsiders”.

The opposition legislators and JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom alleged that the draft of new recruitment rules was passed in the state cabinet without taking the House into confidence. This was an insult and downgrading the power of the Assembly, fumed Hembrom.

Both JMM MLA Hembrom and BJP-AJSU MLAs have demanded that government should clarify it.

The treasury bench tried to pacify the opposition MLAs assuring them that it would give a reply on the issue, but BJP MLAs came to the well of the House in protest.

Notably, the Hemant Soren government, sources said, intends to implement a pre-2016 employment policy after the new policy was scrapped by the High Court.

“I want to know what is there in the pre-2016 policy which the government intends to implement”, asked JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom echoing the demand of opposition BJP- AJSU MLAs
