A Programme on Gender Sensitization with a Focus on Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace was organized on March 17.

It was held at the White Hall, High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi by the High Court of Jharkhand Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee under the Aegis of the High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi. 

The Program was presided by the Chief Guest Mr. Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, the Chief Justice, High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi and the Guest of Honour, Mrs. Justice Anubha Rawat Choudhary, Judge, High Court of Jharkhand & Chairperson, High Court of Jharkhand Gender Sensitization & Internal Complaints Committee, in the benign presence of all the Hon'ble Judges of High Court of Jharkhand.

The Program had two other speakers, namely, Mrs. Darshana Poddar Mishra, Additional Advocate General – I and Member of the Committee as well as Ms. Priti Srivastava, Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF and Member of the said Committee. 

The Program was attended by over 120 distinguished guests and participants including, Sri Anil Kumar, Additional Solicitor General of India, Shri Prashant Pallav, Deputy Solicitor General of India and Additional Advocate Generals of Jharkhand, Shri Dr. Ram Singh, social worker, Principal of D.P.S. School, Ranchi and Member of the said Committee, Senior Advocates, Executive Members of the Advocated Association and distinguished Members of the Bar, High Court Registry Members, Participants including officers and staff from all cadres of the High Court.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Shri Mohammad Shakir, the Registrar General, High Court of Jharkhand. In the Key Note Address, Mr. Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, Hon'ble the Chief Justice, High Court of Jharkhand, shared life-altering personal experiences of the Court and explained the role of the Judge in practical life and Court. Further, His Lordship walked the audience through the journey of how the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 came into being, right from the time India ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEADW) by the Government of India on 25th June 1993 and enlightened on various aspects of the holy Constitution of India.  

Justice Anubha Rawat Choudhary, in Special Address, explained step by step Procedure under the High Court of Jharkhand (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Regulations, 2021, framed by Jharkhand High Court is available on the website of the High Court. The slogan “Career has no Gender” shared by Mrs. Poddar resonated with the audience. Thereafter, the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Tanvee, Member Secretary, the High Court of Jharkhand Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee – cum-Dy. Registrar, Judicial, High Court.

Overall, the Program was a huge success and the High Court of Jharkhand resolved that it shall make this Court gender friendly workplace with the cooperation of all, determined to protect the rights and dignity of individuals.
