For the first time, Coal India Ltd, an Indian central public sector undertaking under the ownership of the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, hit the street under the umbrella of CIL Marathon 2023.

The CIL marathon was held in Ranchi on Sunday, March 26. In view of the run, the traffic movement on several routes were affected and some four-lane roads were made two lanes- one for the participant runners and another for the movement of vehicles in Kanke road.

Emergency and essential service vehicles were allowed to go through one lane, adjoining the Marathon routes to the nearest junction.

The first edition of the CIL Marathon was organised in four categories of runs including- Full Marathon(42.19 km), Half Marathon(21.09 km),10 km and 5 km.The first and second categories started at 4.30 am and 4.55 am whereas 10 km and 5 am run started at 5.30 am and 8.30 am respectively.

In the full marathon, 403 male and 53 female participants had registered. In the half marathon, 492 male and 72 female participants figured in the registration book. For

 

5 km the number of registered participants was 10 km category, registered participants were 1698 male and 307 female whereas their number for 5 km was highest - 2086 male and 603 female.
