Security forces were carrying out a search operation along the Chatra- Palamau border in the Lawalong police station area where there a battle of bullets took place resulting in the death of five Maoists on Sunday- Monday night.

The bodies of these five Maoists were recovered and sent for post-mortem. Among them, two Maoists carried a reward of Rs 25 lakh each and the other three carried a reward of Rs five lakh each, ANI has reported.

The battle of bullets took place along the Chatra-Palamu border in the Lawalong police station area, around 160 km from the state capital Ranchi. 

Replying to a query, Chatra SP Rajesh Ranjan confirmed that security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from near the site of the encounter.”
