Far away from the place where the IED blast was triggered by Maoists in the forest area of Chaibasa, its sole victim Seshmani, CRPF jawan is undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital in Ranchi.

“His condition is serious”, said a senior doctor of the RIMS in the evening.

Soon after the IED blast took place in a forest area falling under Goelkira police station in Chaibasa causing his injury, the CRPF jawan Sheshmani was airlifted and brought to Ranchi and admitted at RIMS hospital in the afternoon.

Reports say that the IED blast took place near the site where security forces including CRPF personnel were involved in a search operation.

Notably, during the past 3-4 months, a number of IED blasts had taken place in Maoist-infested forest areas falling in Chaibasa, Latehar, and Lohardaga, resulting in injuries of more than a dozen jawans of the security forces.

The police have informed that the banned Maoist outfit CPI( Maoist)’s top leaders Misil Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Chaman,
Kande, Ajay Mahto, Sagen Angaria, and Ashwin were leading their groups in their own areas of jurisdiction to spread their organisation and trigger an IED blast.

Dealing with the Thursday- May 11, 2023 incident, a joint team of police and central paramilitary forces including that of the CRPF were carrying out anti- Maoist operation on grounds of their inputs that CPI( Maoists) had laid IEDs in forest areas and hills to prevent security forces pounce on them.

One such IED was blasted by them to hit the security forces this afternoon. Incidentally, since security forces were reportedly “alert”, there was no casualty other than causing injury to one CRPF jawan.
