Even as Vande Bharat Express from Puri- Kolkata begins to run from May 28, the Indian Railways plans to run it from Mumbai to Goa, Ranchi to Patna, and Gauhati to New Jalpaiguri.
All these routes are to be covered by Vande Bharat in around six hours. The aim of the Indian Railways was to link Vande Bharat Express with all states in the country.
Railways have already launched Vande Bharat comprising 16-coach semi-high-speed train sets in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana among others along its routes.
Railways is understood to be exploring options on all the routes to decrease the journey time to the extent possible, by eliminating speed restrictions and other measures.
