An exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces took place inside forest area of Goelkira in West Singhbhum.

The exchange of fire has roots in search operation launched by security forces. “ Before escaping, they opened fire on us. We retaliated…”, said a senior police officer of West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand.

While the exchange of fire continued, CRPF Deputy Commandant, who had suffered bullet injury, was airlifted and brought to a hospital in Ranchi where his treatment was going on, said a report.
