Jharkhand Industry Department and TCPL Green Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd (TGESPL) inked a Memorandum of Understanding to set up the country’s first hydrogen fuel-related plant in Jamshedpur. Once functional it will be the country’s first hydrogen fuel-related plant.  

The state government headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved a ₹354.28 crore investment to build this plant. The project will pave the way for hydrogen fuel in vehicles across the country, replacing conventional fuels like petrol, diesel, CNG, and batteries. 

This will also be the second hydrogen fuel-related plant globally, with the first operational in Germany. The plant will be set up in collaboration with TCPL Green Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd (TGESPL), a joint venture between Tata Motors Ltd and Cummins Inc, USA. 

The CM Soren who was present on the occasion of the signing of the MoU, had granted his consent on July 29 for the signing of the MoU with the TGESPL on the said investment proposal. The capacity of the proposed unit will be 4000+ Hydrogen IC Engine/Fuel Agnostic Engine and 10,000+ battery system.
