A plan is afoot to modernise and redevelop Hatia station near Ranchi, capital city of Jharkhand,at a cost of about Rs 355 crore. 

Alongside,Rs 27 crore has been allotted for the infrastructure development of Piska station near Ranchi, it is learnt.

The Hatia station building will be five-storied with 10 lifts and six escalators. It will be a green energy building and have a water recycling system. 

Jharkhand has been allocated a whopping Rs 5,271 crore in the 2023-24 Union Budget for the augmentation of its railway infrastructure. 

 The plan of the central government involves Hatia and Piska are among 20 stations of Jharkhand to be redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. 

Other stations include Bokaro Steel City, Ghatsila, Rajkharswan, Manoharpur, Barkakana, N.S.C.B. Gomoh, Parasnath, Koderma, Daltonganj, Hazaribagh Road, Katrasgarh, Chandrapura, Nagar Untari, Kumardubi, Garhwa Road, Garhwa Town, Latehar and Sahibganj. 

 On August 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation for the redevelopment project of 20 railway stations in Jharkhand. 

 Now, the plan has kicked off as the initiative is part of the Centre’s ambitious Amrit Bharat Stations Scheme (ABSS), under which redevelopment work has begun on 508 stations in 27 states and Union Territories (UTs).
