Responding to Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s petition against the Enforcement Directorate’s summon, the Supreme Court Friday fixed next date of hearing on September 18.

The division bench comprising Justice Anirudh Bose and Justice M Trivedi heard the petition and posted it for hearing on Monday.

Though he was the petitioner, the the CM Soren had sought extension of hearing on grounds of “ illness” of his counsel.

In view of his submission, the top court ordered to post hearing his petition on September 18. Soren had moved the apex court against ED’s summon in the alleged money laundering in land scam.

Aware of it, the ED had also filed counter affidavit carrying details gathered by it during investigation against the CM Soren. In fact, the ED had issued three summons, seeking to question him in the money laundering case connected with the land scam.

However, instead of abiding by it, CM Soren had preferred not to appear before it and instead challenged its( ED summons’ legality).
